K.D. Wells is an author, owner of Second Glance Resumes, adjunct writing instructor for Kent State University, and business writing consultant for Corporate University at Stark.
There has never been a time when she is not writing. She admits to once writing a self-help motivational book purely on sticky notes several years back during her work in an office. Whenever an idea came into mind, she nonchalantly scribbled it down real quick on a sticky note and stuck it in a folder.
Since the role of "writer" never appeared to be a viable job to keep the lights on at that point, she continued to work in the insurance industry for more than 10 years. After complete burnout in that field, she moved into marketing for a hearing aid company, seeing as she was born with single-sided deafness herself. Even in that role, she took to writing promotional language for marketing concepts. But it still wasn't enough.
She quit the marketing job and went back to earn her master's degree in Composition. Life after that changed. Writing did become her full-time job, in one shape or another. She began teaching College Writing part-time and launched Second Glance Resumes in 2013, which she still operates today.
With so much of her career spent as a writer in business, she finds the most joy in the moments when she has time to write fiction.
It was in one of those rare moments that her first novel idea came to life. Night Raven is expected to be complete by the end of 2021.
In addition, she has written two children's books that should be released at the same time. She shamelessly credits coffee and snacks for helping her meet all deadlines.
